Benefits

Unlike natural stone, its artificial version has significant advantages:

  • It weighs less, which means it can be attached to lighter structures;
  • Requires low glue consumption;
  • A wide range of sizes and a tint palette is presented, which makes it easier to choose the options for the designed interior.

When finishing surfaces with artificial stone material, grouting becomes an important element bearing an additional decorative function. According to the color ratio, it can:

  • maintain the basic tone;
  • be lighter than the main tone;
  • be darker than the main tone.

The width of the joint filled with grout is determined according to the dimensions of the stone fragments and varies from 3 to 15 mm.

The first option is used when you need to make masonry background of the interior. The second is if a decorative panel is made from fragments of an artificial stone, which is the center of the room.

The third option is the hollow seams, limiting the protruding fragments. It is used when using the material under the "wild" stone to highlight the masonry, to emphasize the complex stone texture.

Stone decor in the interior

Types and color options of artificial stone are used inside the different rooms of the house. Concrete decorative stone in the interior of the living room is used for wall decoration, large vertical surfaces. The larger the space for laying, the larger the stone fragments, the more advantageous the end result looks.

Fireplace portals and chimneys of cottages-chalets, decorated with imitation buta, leaving through the second light to the ceiling beams, look like the finished work of the master. And the rare inclusions of strips of stone on the central wall of the living room are the work of an amateur.

The fashion for openings trimmed with small pieces of brick is a thing of the past. Today, following the style means using large tracts of artificial stone.

Decorative stone in the interior, organically imbibed with a rustic style, is found when finishing small vertical surfaces: columns, bar bases, kitchen island. Classical laying, finishing of arches with a wide beam-like laying, reproduction of a natural and chaotic arrangement of a wild stone effectively looks.

However, one should not forget that even chaos is subject to the laws of harmony. Therefore, before doing the work, it is necessary to make a sketch, place the stone on a horizontal surface and transfer it precisely to the object to be decorated.

If you design the interior of the apartment in the loft style, then you should remember that the loft is the factory halls of old factories converted to housing. Brick plastered walls are the heritage of manufacturers, who have saved on interior decoration, which has become the hallmark of this style. A dark red "aged" brick or its imitation of artificial stone on all walls of a large open space is required for a loft.

Hallway: "cave age" or modernity

Inside this room, it is necessary to use a decorative stone in the interior when decorating walls, laying them out with one or several surfaces, or, decorating a large space of the entrance area, place detached boulders and cobblestones that will perfectly support the ethnic or minimalist style.

Also an interesting but time-consuming method of decorating the hallway is the device at the base of the floor of shallow channels with built-in lights. These channels are filled with artificial "pebbles", or spread with a decorative stone of the cobblestone or pavement type.

Flush with the finishing of the floor, the channels are closed with hardened glass, which is also used in the construction of the steps of the glass stairs, make out the transparent "window" with a metal frame. The light coming from the floor of the hallway makes it unusual, makes a shade of mystery.

White bedroom in stone: peace, comfort and healthy sleep

The ideal tone of the stone in the interior of the bedroom is white, milky, echoing the light textile design, forged details, painted with light colors, patina on light furniture.

Decorating the bedroom with artificial brick of calm tones will provide psychological comfort. Dark rich colors can create an intriguing atmosphere, especially if staying in this space for a short time, but for a good rest you need a bright, neutrally decorated room.

At one of the bedroom walls of a rustic or Scandinavian style, you can arrange a false portal for a fireplace by assembling an appropriately sized plasterboard niche and decorating it with a masonry of decorative stone.

It is easy to decorate the inner space of the niche with dimensional candles, selected in tune or in contrast to the overall finish, to install an electric counterpart of the hearth or biofireplace there. Having conceived a similar element of the interior decor of the sleeping area, you will ensure yourself cozy evenings and a safe warm light of living fire.

Stone decor in extreme conditions: kitchen and bathroom

The use of artificial stone for decorating the walls of rooms with high humidity or sharp fluctuations in temperature (bathroom and kitchen) requires a special approach and some precautions.

Although artificial stone has a higher strength and performance characteristics, compared with natural types of granite or marble, it is still subject to the destructive influence of water, high temperatures, hot steam.

Therefore, if the desire to have a wall of artificial brick in the kitchen is large, then it is better not to place it next to the stove, so as not to waste time removing fat stains, or treat it with special protective compounds (varnishes, water repellents).

If you use a stone in the interior of the bathroom, its use implies the presence of volumetric space, because a room of small size, lined with stone fragments, will seem even smaller and narrower.

If the dimensions of the bathroom allow, then use of masonry, large format plates for styles that personify the 20th and 21st centuries, or columns with capitals, embossed inserts, sculptures that turn a room into ancient terms, is justified.

Small forms with decorative stone

The flowing water adds a special highlight to the interior of the space for relaxation: light bubbling sounds soothe, tune in to the creative mood, harmonize the inner mental state of a person, and the smallest water evaporation moistens dry air. Therefore, the device of the home fountain can not only decorate the room, but also improve the health of the inhabitants.

When making a wall with an artificial stone fountain, it is necessary to supplement the design with a glass vertical surface along which streams of water will flow.

Visually transparent barrier is not visible, but it is easier to keep it clean, because from long contact with water, lime limestones form on the stone surface. Glass will protect the clutch from moisture, prevent the destruction of the structure, but the general appearance will not suffer - the house will be a real, not an artificial waterfall.
