What it is?

Nobody truly knows where the sweet design came from. If we consider the origin of the name, then we can assume that its homeland is the United Kingdom or the United States. And perhaps the practice of decorating rooms with candies began in antiquity somewhere among the sands of Egypt, because it was there that the first sweets were prepared. The concept of "sugar" did not exist then, but the builders of the pyramids prepared sweets from flour, honey, dates and herbs. All ingredients were thoroughly mixed, and the resulting mass was divided into portions. The Greeks and Romans made sweet candies. Also made of honey and fruit, but with the addition of molasses and nuts. It is assumed that the name “candy” first appeared here, which is translated from Greek as “cooked”. But in the Old World, these goodies from honey and molasses were sold only in pharmacies. They "hammered" the bitterness of drugs, and it was the medieval pharmacists who introduced the name, which is now known to everyone. We have bouquets of candy began to spread on a large scale just a dozen years ago. It turned out that the technique is not so difficult to master, and the gifts are interesting and non-trivial.

Materials

Only available materials are required for work. Any of them can be purchased at the nearest craft store. So, the minimum set includes:

  • Corrugated paper. It is the basis of any composition, so for the image of the various elements of the plant will need material of several colors.

  • Hard wire, toothpicks, Chinese sticks. These items will imitate the twigs and stems of plants.

  • Packing tape. Individual decorative elements of the bouquet are made of it. Different types of coating (gloss, matte), colors and patterns are used. It all depends solely on the nature of the future composition. Transparent film is used for its intended purpose: to pack the finished gift and to give it a “marketable” look.

  • Grid. In it wrapped real flowers. The mesh has a high rigidity, due to which it is able to give the composition volume.

  • Organza. Thin, airy fabric from which to create individual items or packaging.

  • Other types of fabrics. There are no limitations in their choice; everything will depend on the taste of the skilled worker and the personal convenience of working with a certain material.

  • Styrofoam. It serves as the main one, which will hold the entire composition in the truest sense of the word.

  • Sisal fiber. Natural material made from agave leaves. It makes an original decor.

The list is not final and can be supplemented with absolutely any materials for needlework, as there are no clear limitations in the design of the suite. Sometimes wicker baskets, boxes, vases and bottles are used as a container in which a candy bouquet is placed.

Scissors, nippers, a clerical knife (for polyfoam) and glue are used as tools for work.

Gift Ideas and Forms

There are four types of suite products:

  • Candy cakes;
  • Bulk fruits or still lifes of “sugar” pineapples, apples and oranges;
  • Flower bouquets;
  • Compositions in baskets.

For each type of suite of gifts there are different techniques of execution. A common element for all these products is the use of candy. Moreover, they can be safely hidden behind layers of corrugated paper or vice versa, they are shown in their usual wrappers.

Step-by-step master class

Let's start with the instructions for making a cake. The first stage of work is the manufacture of a “foam bar” under the shape typical for this confectionery product. Then it is wrapped with corrugated paper of the desired color. Its tips, which will look out at the sides, must be passed through a special machine to get the desired relief. Then the paper is fixed. On the side of the cake is wrapped with bars (it is better to use a kinder or kit-kat) and secure them with two parallel ribbons. The top of the gift or fall asleep with small dragees (sktilz, "emdemms"), or decorated with flowers of corrugated paper and organza, ribbons, bows, dolls or cars (if a gift for a child). The process is completed by wrapping a cake in a transparent film and tying up a flirty bow in the place of its assembly. Now try to create a bouquet in a basket:

  • A piece of foam base is placed in the container, which should be only slightly smaller than it.
  • We make flower stalks of a wire.
  • Take the candy and wrap it with several layers of corrugated paper.
  • A wire frame is inserted into the formed “cylinder” with a sweet filling. From the same side it is wrapped in paper. When it is crushed, the material has the properties to retain its shape and perfectly fixed. It is better to twist a piece of paper around the stem, as if it was being dragged into the funnel.
  • Flower head bandaged with a ribbon for a more secure fit.
  • Then the flower petals "bloom", that is, they straighten their fingers, to get a voluminous bud.
  • Perform a variety of colors on a similar technique on the stems of different lengths. Then they are fixed in a foam base.
  • The composition is additionally decorated with organza, mesh, shiny wrapping paper and satin ribbons, bows.
  • The process is completed by wrapping the basket in a transparent film so that the gift has a presentable appearance.

If you want to create a bouquet of sweets, the wrappers of which are not necessary to hide (rafaelki), then they are simply “strung” on the stalks, and for the composition to hold, the “flowers” are tightly fitted to each other and securely packed in a wrapper. For the manufacture of "helicopters" and "tanks" for men, special attention is paid to the foam base, the similarity with the original depends solely on its shape.
