Bedroom design in minimalism style

Minimalist interiors are most popular today. There are no extra items, enough free space, a lot of light. Strict and laconic, expressive and simple design of the bedroom in the style of minimalism is suitable for any premises, it looks easy even in old cramped apartments. It does not differ excessive color variety, but it looks beautiful and very functional.

Main features, style characteristic

This design is most suitable for the home of a single person, a couple. Difficult, but you can stand the style in a large family with children. The main features of minimalism:

  • "modest" color palette - usually one or two are used, less often - three colors. Mostly neutral - black, gray, white, beige or bright, "clean" - red, yellow, blue;
  • finishing materials - almost any are suitable, but without a pattern, excessive decor;
    simple comfortable furniture - regular geometric shapes, no smooth lines, texture details are unacceptable;
  • the lighting is bright, but there is not a lot of luminaries. Street light is welcome, windows are big, curtains are almost always absent;
  • lack of comfort - the "correct" minimalist interior looks uninhabited, there is no delicate, sweet decor.

To clearly withstand the style, refuse any small gizmos, souvenirs, pictures, littering the room. All this is removed in the closet, exposing a maximum of two or three different objects in different parts of the room.

Color spectrum

In the minimalist interior most often there is one main color scheme, which accounts for 60-70% of the total decoration of the room, one additional, occupying 30-35% of the space. The remaining 5-10% are small color accents that are performed in one tone, their presence is not mandatory. A fully monochrome room is also allowed.

Most suitable combinations:

  • snow white with black;
  • violet with graphite gray;
  • ecru with chocolate brown;
  • milk and coffee;
  • thistle with chamois;
  • amber-black with olive;
  • floral white with chrome green;
  • umber with terracotta;
  • beige with titian;
  • moderate orange with dull gray;
  • tomato red with a transport black;
  • gray-yellow with dark blue;
  • chestnut with flaxseed;
  • ocher with steel;
  • creamy with signal brown;
  • concrete with sand;
  • pale purple with ruby.

When choosing colors for the interior, consider the size of the bedroom, the height of the ceiling, the presence of daylight. For a narrow room with one narrow window facing north or north-west, only very bright, warm colors will do. If there are several windows, they face south or southeast, the ceiling is high, the space is huge, then any colors are acceptable, and dark, cold ones are preferable.

Materials, ways of finishing

Materials for decoration will suit both traditional and modern - wood and plastic, metal and stone, glass and wallpaper, paint and ceramics.

The ceiling is plastered, painted with white, beige paint - it usually coincides in color with the walls. Tension often do bright, suspended - mirror. If space permits, the height of the ceiling is made in several tiers, but neatly - unnecessary cluttering up of parts is unacceptable. The walls are decorated with liquid, vinyl, paper wallpaper. They are selected monophonic, embossed. Decorative colouration is acceptable, but intricate patterns, multicolor should be avoided. Light laminate flooring, floorboard, plain linoleum, carpet. Ceramic tiles, natural stone for the floor, bedroom walls are rarely used - these materials are very cold, even if covered with carpet.

Windows are preferred as large as possible - a lot of light penetrates into them, the shape of the window sills is not significant, but sometimes they are made wide, organizing a workplace there. Doors are made of the same color with the walls - they merge with them, less often - they contrast with each other, then they are decorated according to the color of the floor, baseboards, textiles.

For the bedroom, combined with the living room, studio apartment, you need a competent zoning of space. Such interiors are often planned in the attic - attic rooms with high ceilings, sloping roof with panoramic windows, a lot of free, sparsely occupied space.
Zones are separated by:

  • screens, partitions, screens - they are made in the color of the walls, should look unobtrusive;
  • podiums, different heights of the ceiling - a higher or lower ceiling is made above the sleeping area, the bed is placed on the podium;
  • a different color, floor material, walls - it is important not to allow excessive "flowering";
  • furniture items - they also do not need too much;
  • translucent curtains - rarely used;
  • lighting devices - a separate light for each zone;
  • sliding doors - made of ordinary or smart glass, mounted on a metal frame.

It is at the same time allowed to use several zoning options, but try not to overload the interior.

Tips for choosing furniture

Bedroom furnishing - the simpler the better, the modular is preferred. Many companies sell furniture for this room at once in whole sets, the standard kit includes:

  • bed - single, one-and-a-half, double or "king" size;
  • one or two nightstands;
  • written or computer desk with a chair;
  • corner or straight wardrobe;
  • chest of drawers;
  • one or two shelves.

These items do not necessarily need all. Instead of bulky nightstands, shelves are attached to the head of the bed, the dressing table may well be written at the same time, for working with a laptop, clothes fit perfectly in the same closet, drawers and sections are arranged under the bed for bedding, books and other things. As an option - in the bedroom there is only a wide bed, and opposite it is a narrow console under a flat-panel TV, with drawers downstairs.

The wardrobe zone is a large or small closet decorated with a full-length mirror, and the mirror is fixed above the vanity table. The bed is permissible round, but it should not have any extra details, such as forged "laces", carved headboard, gilding. Computer desk, chair needed as simple as possible, but comfortable. Any storage boxes do not have fancy-accent handles that open by simply pressing the front.

From materials suitable wood (oak, beech, hornbeam, walnut, maple, pine, spruce, birch, wenge, etc.), MDF, fiberboard, particleboard, plywood, plastic, metal. All furnishings coincide in color with the surrounding interior, as if dissolving in it, or made contrast.

In the children's bedroom is all the same, but there are more space for storing toys, especially if there are more than one children. Boxes put under the bed, in the presence of two-three-story bed sections are organized in the steps leading upward. Rounded corners are allowed here - solely for security purposes.

Lighting

Light here requires a lot, it is preferable to be bright, but in the area of a berth it should be regulated - it should be added and decreased by pressing a button. Each zone is made with its own light source plus a central ceiling lamp, which is made as simple as possible - flat - volume multi-track chandeliers are completely unacceptable. The best solution would be spotlights mounted in a suspended, suspended ceiling.

The dressing area is made up of one or two lamps that are mounted directly on or close to the closet, the mirror above the dressing table is made up by “makeup” - framed by LED tape along the contour, with four or six individual small lamps with turning mechanisms. A single lamp-bra above it is also allowed. Above a double bed, the light is made from two sides - above the bedside tables; A workplace with a computer, writing desk illuminate as brightly as possible. The child’s bedroom is evenly illuminated in its entirety, the ceiling lamps are equipped with anti-shock protection.

In the presence of plafonds, they are made of the simplest form, sockets, switches, and if possible they “hide” behind furnishings or are made in the same color as the walls.

Decor, accessories, textiles

Textiles for a minimalist interior are not distinguished by a special variety of colors. The bedspread on the bed is matched in color with curtains, carpet, or accent detail. Pillows will be a bright accent - no more than two or three are enough, different in size but combined in shape are preferable. And the bedspread, and bedding, and all pillows are preferred single-color or with a subtle, inconspicuous pattern. The windows are almost always left without curtains, but if you need to somehow close the opening, you use shutters, blinds, rarely - plain straight curtains mounted to the ceiling, reaching exactly to the floor.

The carpet is selected monophonic, rather large - in the studio apartment it separates the sleeping area from the rest of the room, in an ordinary room it unites around itself all the furniture. A small rug looks poor - as if the owner of the room can not afford anything more. It should not be made too large — there should be ten to twenty centimeters to the walls.

Pictures on the walls in minimalism are possible, but only in the simplest rectangular or round frames or without them at all. They will be the paintings of abstractionists, cubists, modernists or "self-made" drawings in a primitive style. Allowed one or two potted plants on the windowsill, such as cacti - they often have the simplest form. In the nursery there may be large toys in prominent places.

On draperies are not allowed a variety of lace, flounces, valances. The bed is made out by a sheet on an elastic band, the simplest blanket.

Conclusion

The minimalist interior design of the bedroom is stylish, with elements of luxury or very budget, but at the same time beautiful. The project of any room in the style of minimalism is easy to draw with his own hand - there are few elements here, the finishing is relatively simple. But if we are talking about the planning of spaces of complex shape, attic floors, it is better to ask for help from professional interior designers.
