There are some rules, observing which, you can create the kitchen of your dreams, in which it will be convenient to work.

  1. Triangle. This rule states that the basic working “knots” of a kitchen should be located along the apexes of a triangle. The stove, sink and refrigerator should be positioned so as to be in the corners of a mentally constructed triangle. This arrangement is most ergonomic. Count the area of ​​this imaginary figure, it should be in the range of 4 to 8 square meters. m
  2. Base. Modern kitchen planning begins with the definition of a place for washing, since it is most difficult to move from place to place. Therefore, to begin with, determine where you will have a sink, and only then place a stove, a refrigerator and a desk.
  3. Plate. This device should be surrounded by a free working surface, albeit small. The stove is never installed end-to-end with appliances or sink. The location of the slab under the window is also not considered successful.
  4. Fridge. This device does not have near the radiators, stoves. It is also desirable that it does not interrupt the work surface. The optimal location is near the wall in the corner, and the door must open to the wall so as not to interfere with the work.
  5. Verticals. High pieces of furniture should not block the kitchen, so as not to cause inconvenience when working.

Types of kitchen layouts

There are several typical principles for the construction of the interior and kitchen planning.

Corner (L-shaped)

The most versatile option that can be used in large and small in size rooms. It looks best in square kitchens, not too big, but not small in size.

In this embodiment, the “triangle rule” can be observed most accurately by arranging a work surface, storage cabinets for small household appliances and supplies along joined walls, and having a stove, a refrigerator and a sink in the three most distant points.

Pros:

  • this layout allows you to leave the maximum free space for the organization of the dining area,
  • ergonomic distribution of basic kitchen “knots”,
  • usability.

Minuses:

  • the layout and design of the kitchen in the form of the letter D will be inconvenient for very small, narrow, and too large rooms.

Linear

The alignment of all kitchen appliances along one wall, in one row, is justified if the room allocated for the kitchen is long and narrow, or has a very small area. However, this does not negate compliance with the laws of the "triangle", which allows for the most efficient use of equipment and minimal energy consumption for cooking.

With a linear kitchen layout in the apartment, the stove is usually placed in the center of the working surface, and on both sides at the edges is a refrigerator and a sink. This is justified and convenient when the length of the wall along which the kitchen is located does not exceed 3.7 m.

This layout allows you to organize a place for the dining group at the opposite wall. Sometimes a linear layout is used when creating kitchen interiors in large rooms - this allows for the remaining area to arrange not only a dining, but also a living area.

Pros:

  • suitable for walk-through facilities
  • ideal for small kitchens.

Minuses:

  • there may not be enough space for a dishwasher, washing machine and oven;
  • small size of the working area.

Parallel

This is a modern kitchen layout, in which the work surface and appliances line up in two lines along the parallel walls of the room. On the one hand, it is customary to put a sink and a hob, on the other - a refrigerator, as well as other appliances. For kitchen premises with two entrances (from the living room and dining room), such an arrangement can be considered the best.

Pros:

  • suitable for both medium and large rooms
  • allows you to fit all the necessary appliances.

Minuses:

  • indoors there is no possibility to allocate space for a dining group.

The layout in the form of the letter P

Thus arrange furniture in kitchens of rather big size. In each of the sections have one element of the "triangle", the result is an ergonomic layout.

The interior and layout of the kitchen in the form of the letter P allow you to organize not only the dining area, but also the bar counter. At the same time, not all furniture should be adjacent to the walls: for example, one of the “legs” of the letter P can be perpendicular to the wall and be an element dividing the kitchen area and the dining area. From the kitchen side, the table top serves as a work area, and from the dining area, it is a bar stand.

Pros:

Isle

The layout and design of the kitchen with the “island” provide the greatest opportunities for various combinations and open up broad interior prospects. Such kitchens have, as a rule, a large area, and are often combined with the living room and dining room.

Actually, the “island” is a separate part of the working surface into which any appliances can be built, as well as a sink, and under which household appliances for various purposes can be located. Usually, the island includes a part of the working surface, a hob and a cabinet for storing dishes, or an oven.

The approach to such an island is possible from all sides. But other combinations are possible. Adding the “island” to the linear, L-or U-shaped or parallel layout, we get the “island” layout of the room.

The size of the “island” and its functional equipment depend on the size of the kitchen and your needs. For example, when planning the kitchen in an apartment where you can take a large room, you can put a refrigerator, a wine cellar and a dishwasher in the island, as well as a table top for tasting drinks and a sink where it will be convenient to wash glasses.

If the size of the kitchen is not so large, you can combine a dining table and a sink for dishes, or a stove in the island. The island can be connected to the wall with a console, resulting in a large dining table.

Island layout gives you the opportunity to create original interiors. For example, at the expense of the island, in which additional storage systems can be located, it becomes possible to discard bulky wall cabinets.

Pros:

  • functional arrangement of necessary equipment and furniture,
  • creating a single ensemble in a large room
  • space saving and division into functional zones with the help of kitchen elements.

Minuses:

  • not suitable for small rooms.

Peninsula

Modern kitchen planning in the form of a “peninsula” allows you to use the advantages of a full-fledged island on a much smaller area. At the same time, the “island” adjoins one of the sides to the working zone, forming a protruding part, which can serve as a separator of functional zones.

Usually, with such a layout, the dining area is moved beyond the “ledge”, far from the stove and the working area. At the same time, the functionality of such a kitchen is significantly higher than simple linear or angular.

Pros:

  • allows you to maximize the use of kitchen space,
  • rational arrangement of equipment and storage sites,
  • division into functional zones using the “peninsula”,
  • Suitable for medium sized rooms.

Minuses:

  • cannot be used in rooms of small size and in narrow rooms.

Asymmetry

In some cases, it is impossible to create an interior and layout of the kitchen according to a typical sample. This is usually the case in private houses, where kitchen rooms are often allocated a large size, but of arbitrary shape. Then the furniture and appliances are distributed along the walls, but they do not form a symmetrical figure.

In old houses, where the garbage line passes through the kitchen, its box also violates the geometry of the premises, which has to be taken into account when planning and ordering furniture.

Free layout

Recently, the so-called free layout has become widespread. In this case, some pieces of furniture are equipped with wheels, and they can be easily moved from place to place, thus changing the plan and interior of the kitchen. This is quite convenient for young families who like frequent changes, and whose family composition changes quite often as children appear.
